Tourist and Visit Visas
Tourist Visas are issued to all foreign nationals who intend to visit Afghanistan for the purpose of tourism including visiting historic sites, sight-seeing, recreation, etc.
Visit Visas are issued for the purpose of visiting family or friends or attending sport programs, exhibitions and or visiting religious places.
Other activities such as business and work are not permitted on tourist and visit visas.
Diplomatic and Service Visas
Diplomatic Visas are issued on diplomatic passports for the purpose of official visits as well as for the diplomats carrying official duties/deployed to their home countries missions (embassies & consulates), UN missions and other relevant international organizations in Afghanistan.
Service Visas are issued on service passports, special passports, official passports and United Nations laissez-passer (UNLP) for the purspose of Official visits, carrying official duties in home countries Missions (embassies & consulates), UN missions and international Organizations in Afghanistan.
Work and Employment Visas
Work Entry Visas (short term, single entry) are issued for workers, professionals, medical doctors, engineers, trainers, pilots, transport workers and technical staff invited to carry duties in foreign missions, UN offices, foreign and domestic governmental and non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan.
Work Entry Visas (1 year, multiple entries) may be issued for employees of NATO and US Army contractor and sub-contractor companies in Afghanistan.
Media and Education Visas
Media Visas issued to foreign journalists and individuals who intend to visit Afghanistan for any purpose associated with media. Journalists or individuals visiting for work for Afghan media must apply for an employment visa.
Education or Student Visas are issued to those who visit Afghanistan for purpose of academic research and carrying duties at public or private academic and educational institutions.
