Please read the following points carefully before starting an application:
Afghan citizens:
- Afghan citizens holding foreign passports in which Afghanistan is mentioned as place of their birth do not need a visa to visit Afghanistan.
- Former Afghan citizens who have renounced their citizenship are required by law, to have a visa to travel to Afghanistan.
All applicants:
- Applicants’ passports must have at least six months validity and at least two blank pages specified for visa.
- All applicants have the option of submitting applications by mail, but they may be contacted at any time to attend in-person or online interviews.
- Application submitted by mail must be officially notarized by a public notary office.
- Passports must be collected only by the applicants or their representatives and for mail delivery a prepaid self-addressed return envelope should be included in the package.
- Any expedited service (1-2 business days) will be required an additional charge of $50.
- All applications may not be eligible for expedited service. It will be determined based on emergencies, nature of visit and documents provided by the applicant.
- Incomplete or unsigned application forms will not be processed.
- Complete application and or meeting all the mentioned requirements does not necessarily mean a visa is guaranteed. It is solely the right of the consulate to issue a visa or reject any application at any time without provision of any clarifications.
- Applications for minors should be signed, submitted and collected, by parents, legal guardians or their representatives. A parent/legal guardian statement must provide all the information about purpose of journey, duration of stay, complete address and contact number in Afghanistan and their consent for their children’s visit.
- All fees paid for the visa applications are non-refundable irrespective of the outcome of the application. All fees should be in form of money order, payable to "Consulate of Afghanistan LA. We do not accept cash, checks credit, debit or other types of cards.
- The validity of the visa begins from the issue date of the visa.
Work-Entry Type 1 ویزه کار
Work-Entry visa type 1 is issued for workers, professionals, medical doctors, engineers, trainers, pilots, transport workers and technical staff invited to carry duties in foreign missions, UN offices, foreign and domestic governmental and non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan.
Validity:Three months
Duration of stay:30 days, single entry
Regular processing time:10-14 business days
Fees:US passports: $160, other passports: $100
Particulars: Extendable
Required Documents:
- Passport with a minimum of six months validity.
- Application Form, filled out correctly and legibly.
- Two recent photos (transparent, clean & clear)
- Invitation letter from the employer through the ministry of foreign affairs in Kabul (sent directly to the Afghan consulate in Los Angeles)
- Evidence of employment in Afghanistan.
- A copy of valid business license of employer in Afghanistan.
- Evidence of employment in the US for US citizens and proof of status of residence in the US for non-US citizens
- Utility bill or bank statement (as proof of address)
- Personal statement describing purpose of visit, duration of stay and complete address and contact number in Afghanistan.
- Visa fees in form of money order.
Work-Entry type 2 ویزه کار
Work-Entry type 2 (Contractor) is issued for the employees of NATO and US Army contractor and sub-contractor companies in Afghanistan.
Validity:Three months - One year
Duration of stay:30-365 days
Regular processing time:7-14 business days
Fees:US passports:$360
Particulars:Extendable
* The above fees includes $160 visa fee and an additional $200 payable by new and first year applicants/employees
*Please combine all applicable fees to one single money order payable to "Consulate of Afghanistan in Los Angeles".
Required Documents:
- Passport with a minimum of six months validity
- Application Form, filled out correctly and legibly
- Two recent photos (transparent, clean & clear)
- Proof of valid contract from the contractor &subcontractor agencies with NATO and US Army or valid Letter of Authorization (LOA) indicating issue date and date of expiration
- Evidence of employment in Afghanistan
- A copy of valid business license of employer in Afghanistan
- Evidence of employment in the US for US citizens and proof of status of residence in the US for non-US citizens
- Utility bill or bank statement (as proof of address)
- Personal statement describing purpose of visit, duration of stay and complete address and contact number in Afghanistan
- Visa fees in form of money order
